About DevilBoy Productions

Hi, I’m Nigel Camp, founder of DevilBoy Productions.

I started the company in 2011 because I wanted to build something smaller, more personal and more grounded in the work itself. Too much video production can feel wrapped in polished language that sounds good but says very little. I wanted a more straightforward way of working, where the focus stays on good judgement, clear communication and making films that are genuinely useful to the client.

I’m also the author of The Video Effect, first published in 2014, a practical guide to video production and visual communication for brands. That work sits alongside the day-to-day production side of the business and reflects the same approach I bring to client projects: clear thinking, strong storytelling and useful, well-judged execution.

What mattered to me then still matters now. The idea needs to be strong. The message needs to be clear. The production needs to feel well handled from start to finish. When those things are in place, the final film has a much better chance of connecting with the people it is meant to reach.

As a director, one of the best parts of the job is seeing something grow from an early conversation or rough idea into a finished piece that people actually respond to. That part has never worn off. It is still what keeps the work interesting.

How We Work

DevilBoy Productions keeps the core team lean and builds outward when a project needs more hands. That gives us flexibility without losing control of the work.

For each project, I bring in the right filmmakers for the brief rather than forcing every job into the same setup. Most shoots stay relatively small, though the team can scale when needed. What matters is that the people involved suit the job.

That approach also brings a wider mix of experience into the work. Someone with a documentary background may bring more honesty and depth to an interview-led piece. Someone used to faster-paced formats may bring a different sense of rhythm and energy. Those differences are useful. They help keep the work responsive rather than formulaic.

Over the years, we have worked across corporate projects, travel, fashion, music and charity work. That range has been valuable because each sector asks for something a little different. The audience changes, the tone changes and the way a story needs to be told often changes with it.

What matters to us

A lot of our new work now comes through referrals and repeat clients. That means more than any polished sales line ever could. It suggests people value not only the finished video, but also the experience of getting there.

That matters because most clients are not looking for unnecessary complexity. They want a team that listens properly, communicates clearly and stays steady when things need to adapt. That is the standard we try to hold ourselves to on every project, whatever the size of the brief.

We also believe good production should feel collaborative. Clients should feel informed, listened to and comfortable asking questions as the work develops. In many cases, that leads to better decisions and a stronger final result.

What sets DevilBoy Productions apart

Bigger agencies often come with more layers, more handovers and more process than some projects really need. DevilBoy Productions works differently.

You deal directly with the people close to the work. Communication stays clear. Decisions can be made more quickly. The process stays flexible when real filming conditions shift, which they often do.

We plan properly, but we do not hold so tightly to a plan that the work becomes rigid. Good shoots usually rely on both preparation and judgement on the day. Knowing when to stick to the brief and when to adapt is part of what keeps a production running smoothly.

Every project gets proper attention, whether it is something small and focused or a wider production with more moving parts. The aim is not to overcomplicate the work. It is to make something strong, useful and worth putting in front of an audience.

If that sounds like the kind of working relationship you are after, you can get in touch for a relaxed conversation about your idea.
